Hammerich House (Hammerichs Hus)

Hammerichs Hus is one of the oldest surviving merchant's houses on the island, a well-preserved 18th-century townhouse now open as a local museum. The interior gives a genuine sense of what daily life looked like for a prosperous island family in the 1700s — the furniture, textiles, and household objects are largely original rather than reproduction.

The house is named after a family that owned it for several generations and donated it to the local heritage organisation. Rooms are kept in period style, and the garden at the rear has been replanted with traditional kitchen herbs and flowers. Opening hours are seasonal; check with the local tourist office before visiting.
