Nørrebro

Nørrebro is Copenhagen's most diverse and energetic neighbourhood, stretching north of the city centre. It has the highest concentration of immigrants and their descendants in the city, which means the food is better and cheaper than elsewhere, the cafes are more independent, and the politics are more interesting. Jægersborggade and Elmegade are the main streets for cafes, vintage clothing shops, and independent restaurants.

The neighbourhood is also home to the Assistens Cemetery, a rambling green space where Hans Christian Andersen and Søren Kierkegaard are buried — a favourite park for locals who stroll and sunbathe among the graves. The Lakes (Søerne) form the southern border of Nørrebro, and the path around them is one of the best runs in the city.
