Elmegade

Elmegade is Nørrebro's best street for independent shops — vintage clothing, secondhand books, vinyl records, ceramics, and design. A short walk from Jægersborggade, it has a slightly more commercial character but still entirely independent. The street and its side streets around Blågårds Plads form the core of Nørrebro's alternative retail district.

Blågårds Plads itself is worth stopping at — a large square that functions as a social hub for the neighbourhood, with outdoor café seating in summer and a mix of teenagers, families, and students from the nearby KEA design school. One of the more genuinely multicultural public spaces in Copenhagen.
