The Experimentarium in Hellerup is Denmark's leading science centre — a large, hands-on museum designed primarily for children but engaging enough for adults without children to find it worthwhile. Reopened in 2017 in a dramatically redesigned building in Hellerup harbour, it covers physics, biology, technology, and the natural sciences through several hundred interactive exhibits across three floors.
The building itself is worth noting: architects CEBRA wrapped the existing structure in a spiralling ramp and a perforated facade, turning a former brewery bottling hall into something that reads as genuinely contemporary. The interior is well-designed and logical; the ramp structure means the exhibition flows naturally without the dead ends that afflict many science museums.
Admission is around 225 DKK for adults, with reductions for children. Plan two to three hours. Hellerup S-tog station is a 5-minute walk. Particularly good for children aged 4–12; the exhibits are calibrated for hands-on engagement rather than passive reading.
