Randers has a solid range of restaurants for a provincial Danish city of its size. The old town centre has a mix of cafes, Danish brasseries, and international options. Quality is generally good, and prices are somewhat lower than in Aarhus or Copenhagen.
Traditional Danish food — smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches), pork dishes, and fish — is available at the older city-centre restaurants. Several Italian and international options have opened in recent years along the main pedestrian street. The restaurant at Memphis Mansion is an American diner, consistent with the theme.
For lunch, the smørrebrød cafes near the old town are the best value. Many restaurants close by 9pm; Randers is not a late-night city. The Kulturhuset's cafe does food on event nights and is often the liveliest place for a dinner-plus-entertainment combination.
