Sailing and Boating

Kaberneeme has a small yacht harbour on the western side of the peninsula, used mainly by local sailors and summer visitors from Tallinn. The harbour is modest in scale — a sheltered inlet with a jetty and room for a few dozen boats — but it serves as a useful base for exploring the Gulf of Finland by water. Kolga Bay, which wraps around the peninsula to the east, is calm and shallow, well suited to sailing and kayaking in summer.

The Gulf of Finland has a strong sailing culture in Estonia, and the waters around the northern coast are popular for coastal cruising between June and September. The Estonian island archipelago to the west is a longer-range destination for those with their own boats. If you are arriving on your own yacht, the harbour can accommodate overnight stays; facilities are basic and you should not expect marina-level services.

The surrounding coastline, with its rocky coves and pine-backed shores, makes this stretch of water one of the more scenic in northern Estonia. Visibility in the bay is good in summer and the tidal range is negligible, making for straightforward navigation.
