The Ubari Landscape Conservation Area is a protected coastal zone in Harju County that covers the forests, meadows, and shoreline around the Kaberneeme peninsula. It was designated to preserve the mosaic of habitats that have developed along this stretch of the Gulf of Finland — old pine stands, wet meadows, and reed-fringed coves that provide nesting ground for waders and waterfowl.
Walking through the area, you pass between open grassland and dense forest with no clear boundary. White-tailed eagles are a regular sight overhead, and the shallow bays are productive fishing grounds for cormorants. The conservation area has no visitor centre and no maintained trail network — bring a good map, wear waterproof boots, and expect to pick your own route through the trees.
