Ridge Walk above Porkeri

The hillside rising steeply behind Porkeri rewards the climb with views along the entire east coast of Suðuroy. On a clear day you can see north to Hov and south to Vágur, with the Vágur fjord opening up to the west. The ridge connects the village to the tracks that cross the spine of the island.

The path starts at the edge of the village and ascends quickly on grass and rock. The vegetation is typical Faroese moorland: short grass, heather, and in summer a thin scatter of wildflowers. The wind at the top can be significant — bring a jacket regardless of the weather below.
