Bøsdalafossur

Bøsdalafossur is the waterfall at the western end of Leitisvatn, where the lake drains over the cliff edge and drops around 30 metres directly into the Atlantic. It sits at the end of the Leitisvatn hike from Miðvágur.

The waterfall is dramatic by any measure, but the setting makes it exceptional: the cliff drops sheer to the ocean, puffins nest in the rock faces, and on clear days the view extends west toward Mykines. The combination of the lake at your back and the open Atlantic below is one of the more striking positions you can stand in the Faroes.

The surrounding area is a closed reserve. Access to the cliff area requires a small entry fee paid at the gate in Miðvágur, which also controls timing in busier months.
