Vágar Airport (FAE) is the only airport in the Faroe Islands and sits about 4 km from Miðvágur. Atlantic Airways operates regular flights from Copenhagen, and seasonal services connect from London, Edinburgh, and other European cities. The airport is a short taxi or bus ride from the village.
From Tórshavn, the Faroese capital on Streymoy, Miðvágur is reached via the Vágatunnilin undersea road tunnel (opened 2002), which connects Vágar to Streymoy. The drive takes about 45 minutes. Bus service runs several times daily.
Miðvágur is effectively the central point on Vágar — Sørvágur and the ferry to Mykines are 10 km west, Sandavágur is a few kilometres east.
