The serious Finnish design shopping happens along the Esplanade and through the Punavuori district. Iittala for glassware, Marimekko for textiles, Artek for furniture, and Aarikka for wooden craft are the household names; smaller independent shops on Korkeavuorenkatu and Annankatu sell jewellery, ceramics, and clothing from young Helsinki designers. The Stockmann department store and the Forum and Kamppi malls cover everything else. Sunday opening is widespread but not universal — check before you set out.
