Eating Out

Helsinki's restaurant scene has changed beyond recognition since the 1990s. Alongside the classic Finnish — reindeer, salmon, lingonberry — there is now strong representation across Nordic new-wave (Olo, Ora), neighbourhood bistros, Asian (in particular Vietnamese and Nepali), and a serious wood-fired pizza scene. The lunch buffet at midday is a national institution: most workplaces issue lunch vouchers, most restaurants compete on Monday-to-Friday set menus around €13.
