Jyväskylä Airport (JYV) has direct flights to Helsinki (Vantaa) several times a day; the flight takes about 45 minutes. There are no international flights from Jyväskylä itself.
By train from Helsinki, the journey takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes via the direct Intercity service; trains run several times daily. The station is in the centre of town. By car, Jyväskylä is about 270 kilometres north of Helsinki on the main route via Lahti; the drive takes around 3 hours. Express coaches from Helsinki are also available and take about 3.5 hours.
