Taulumäki Church is the main Lutheran church of Jyväskylä, a striking white building set on a low hill north of the city centre. Architect Elsi Borg designed it in a style that blends Nordic classicism with elements of Functionalism — the exterior is clean and composed, with a tall tower that serves as a landmark. The interior is spacious and well-lit, with a nave that can hold over a thousand people.
The original murals by Eero Nelimarkka give the interior warmth and narrative interest. The church is still very much in active use, and services are held regularly. Visitors are welcome outside service times. The church holds regular concerts, particularly of choral music, and the acoustics are notable. It sits a fifteen-minute walk north from the city centre.
