Myllykoski is a small industrial settlement in the Kymenlaakso region of southeastern Finland, on the banks of the Kymi River. The name means "mill rapids," after the falls on the Kymi that once powered riverside mills. The Myllykoski paper mills were a major employer for much of the 20th century, and the riverside landscape still carries the character of an industrial river town.
The football club MYPA FC is based here, playing at the Anjalankoski stadium near the river. The traditional Inn Rauhala, close to the stadium and the railway station, is a local institution. Cross-country skiing and hiking trails run along the riverbanks, and the Kymi River itself is one of Finland's finest salmon rivers — fishing access is available in season.
