A traditional Finnish restaurant in a beautifully preserved 18th-century wooden house on Pikisaari island, just south of the centre. Sokeri-Jussi was a sugar-trader who lived in the house in the 19th century; his name has stuck.
The menu is regional — reindeer, whitefish, game stew, blueberry tarts — and the dining rooms (low ceilings, wooden floors, candles) are some of the most atmospheric in Oulu. Booking essential.
