The Alfred Kordelin Chapel sits in Rauma's old cemetery, a small architectural stop with a very local story. It was designed by Lars Sonck and built after the death of Alfred Kordelin, the Rauma-born businessman and philanthropist whose grave and memorial are connected with the chapel.
It is a quiet add-on to Old Rauma rather than a replacement for it. The cemetery setting gives you a different mood from the wooden streets: more reflective, more Finnish, and useful if you want to see how Rauma remembers its own benefactors as well as its UNESCO-listed townscape.
