Rauma Maritime Museum

The Rauma Maritime Museum, housed in a former navigation school just north of Old Rauma, tells the story of a town that lived from the sea for four centuries. Rauma had one of the largest sailing fleets in Finland in the 19th century, and the museum's collection of ship models, navigational instruments, and captain's-cabin reconstructions reflects that era.

The displays cover wooden sailing ships, the transition to steam, and the post-war shipbuilding boom that produced the modern Rauma shipyard, still active a few kilometres west. A separate section is devoted to lighthouse keepers — Rauma's outer archipelago is dotted with lonely stone lighthouses, several of which can be visited on summer boat trips arranged through the museum. Allow about an hour.
