Tampere's main shopping area runs along Hämeenkatu and around the Central Square. The Koskikeskus shopping centre on Aleksanterinkatu houses the usual Finnish chain stores. For more interesting shopping, the Tampere Market Hall is the best stop for Finnish food products, and the Finlayson area has a cluster of design and lifestyle shops in the converted factory buildings.
Finnish design labels (Marimekko, Iittala, Arabia) have outlets in the city centre. For secondhand and vintage, the Tampella area has several good shops. The Kauppahallit (market halls) and the Tampere City Library's bookshop are reliable spots for Finnish books and maps.
