Things to Do

Tampere rewards exploration. The converted factory districts along the Tammerkoski Rapids — Finlayson, Tampella, and Plevna — have been transformed into museums, cinemas, restaurants, and studios without losing their industrial character. The Vapriikki museum centre is one of Finland's most visited cultural sites. The city's ridges and lakeshores offer constant views and several good walking routes.

The Spy Museum (the world's first), the Moomin Museum, and the Lenin Museum add up to one of the more eccentric combinations of attractions in Finland. Between sightseeing, Tampere's live music scene is punchy for a city of its size — there are multiple venues with nightly programming.
