Getting There

Vaasa has its own airport with several daily flights to Helsinki Vantaa (about 50 minutes). The train from Helsinki takes around four hours and runs several times a day via Seinäjoki. By car from Helsinki it is roughly 450 kilometres, about four and a half hours north on the E12.

A ferry crosses to Umeå in Sweden — the M/S Wasa Express makes the crossing in around four hours. This route passes through the Kvarken Archipelago and is worth taking for the scenery alone, even if you are only crossing to say you have done it.
