Après-ski at Alpe d'Huez is, depending on your tolerance, either legendary or unbearable. The Dutch contingent — the resort is enormously popular with Dutch skiers, especially during a charity week each January called "Alpe d'HuZes" — dominates the bar scene at the foot of the slopes around 4 to 6pm. Later in the evening the action moves up the village to a string of more conventional bars and to a few late nightclubs. Most places are closed in summer.
