Valence is one of the easiest cities in southern France to reach by rail. The TGV stops at Valence TGV station, about 10km east of the city centre, with fast services from Paris Gare de Lyon (2 hours), Lyon Part-Dieu (35 minutes), and Marseille (1 hour 15 minutes). A shuttle bus connects the TGV station to the city centre.
The older Valence-Ville station in the city centre is served by regional trains and is more useful if you are already travelling on the regional network — direct connections from Grenoble (1.5 hours) and along the Rhône valley.
By car, Valence is on the A7 motorway (the Autoroute du Soleil) halfway between Lyon and Orange. The city is an easy and logical stopping point if you are driving south from Paris or Lyon.
