Bars and Cafes

Bergerac is not a nightlife town, but it has the cafe and aperitif life of a confident provincial centre. The terrace cafes around the Place Pélissière fill up from late afternoon onwards, particularly in the warmer months when the square hosts open-air music. The Maison des Vins runs informal evening tastings in season.

Among the dedicated wine bars, Le Vinopôle opposite the Maison des Vins pours the full range of Bergerac and Monbazillac wines by the glass, with cheese and charcuterie boards. L'Ancre Bar, near the riverfront, is a more casual locals' bar with a good beer list. After midnight the town quietens fast; for anything later head to the riverbank brasseries, which keep going on summer weekends.
