The Musée d'Art et d'Archéologie du Périgord — usually shortened to Musée du Périgord — pulls together finds from across the Dordogne, a region with more important prehistoric sites per square kilometre than almost anywhere on earth. The Palaeolithic galleries are the highlight, with carved stones, ornaments and tools from Les Eyzies, La Madeleine and other regional sites.
Beyond prehistory there are Gallo-Roman finds (well complementing what you'll see at Vesunna), medieval sculpture, ethnographic collections from Africa and Oceania, and a small but worthwhile fine art gallery. The building itself is a former Augustinian convent. Closed Tuesdays.
