A short walk from the main Château de Malmaison through the park, this smaller estate houses the Napoleonic memorabilia that didn't fit the domestic narrative of the main house. The focus here is on Napoleon's exile and death on Saint Helena: personal effects, letters, the camp bed he died on, and his death mask.
The building itself is a graceful 17th-century manor, donated to the state in 1926 specifically to complement the Malmaison museum. It's a quieter, more contemplative visit than the main château — fewer tour groups, more time to linger over the objects. A combined ticket covers both houses. The surrounding park, Parc de Bois-Préau, is a pleasant green space open to the public and worth a wander in its own right.
