Getting There

Amboise is 25 km east of Tours and well connected by rail. The train from Tours takes about 20 minutes (roughly 10 trains a day); from Paris Saint-Lazare, change at Tours or take the TGV to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (just east of Tours city centre) then a local train to Amboise. Total journey from Paris is about 1h45 to 2h15 depending on connections.

Amboise station is on the north bank of the Loire, a short walk or free shuttle from the town centre. The shuttle — the Navette Bleue — runs in season between the station, the town centre, and Clos Lucé.

By car from Paris, the A10 autoroute runs southwest; take exit 18 for Amboise. Journey time is about 2h30 from Paris. Amboise has several car parks near the chateau; street parking by the river is usually available outside summer.

Cycling along the Loire à Vélo route is a popular option — the cycle path runs through Amboise and connects to Tours (25 km) and Blois (35 km).
