Clairefontaine is the other Deauville track, about two kilometres southwest of the town centre at Tourgéville. Smaller and more wooded than La Touques, it specialises in steeplechase and trotting races — the older French disciplines — alongside its own flat fixtures. Race days happen all through the summer, complementing the bigger meetings up the road.
The park around the track is well-kept and pleasant to walk even on non-race days. Children's pony-club Sunday mornings, behind-the-scenes tours of the stables, and a Sunday brunch in the grandstand restaurant are the kind of extras that fill the off-days. Free shuttle buses link Clairefontaine and La Touques during the August meeting.
