Rennes has a single metro line (Line A) running northeast-southwest across the city. A second line (Line B) opened in 2022 and crosses the first near the city centre. The two lines cover the main areas of interest for visitors. Tickets and day passes are sold at station machines and at the STAR bus and metro office.
The old town is entirely walkable, and most sights cluster within a 20-minute walk of each other. STAR also runs an extensive bus network. The city is reasonably cycle-friendly; Vélo STAR is the public bike-share scheme, with stations throughout the centre and suburbs.
