Vannes has a lively restaurant scene concentrated in the old town and along the port. Breton specialities dominate — galettes (buckwheat crêpes with savoury fillings), seafood from the Gulf of Morbihan, and oysters are everywhere. The Wednesday and Saturday morning market on Place des Lices is the best place to assemble a picnic.
