Brittany is best in summer (June to September) when the weather is warm enough for the gulf and the outdoor market is at its best. July and August are busy, especially on weekends when Parisians descend on the coast. The Wednesday and Saturday markets run year-round. Spring and early autumn offer mild weather, smaller crowds, and cheaper accommodation. The Festival de Jazz d'Vannes in late July and the Fêtes Historiques de Vannes (a medieval festival) in the summer are worth timing a visit around.
