Musée de la Cohue

Breton fine arts in a medieval market hall and courthouse

La Cohue was the main market hall and law court of medieval Vannes, a large covered building where trades were transacted and judgements were handed down simultaneously. Today it houses the Musée des Beaux-Arts, a modest but well-presented collection of paintings, engravings, and sculpture with a strong focus on Breton art and artists from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The permanent collection includes work by Delacroix and local painters, alongside decorative objects and enamels connected to Vannes. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions. Combined entry with the Château-Gaillard museum is available and saves a little money if you plan to visit both.
