La Fontaine de Belleville is the best coffee in Paris — a roastery and cafe that imports and roasts its own beans, served in a beautiful tiled space near the Canal Saint-Martin. The flat whites and pour-overs are exceptional; the pastries from a nearby bakery are excellent.
Paris was slow to the third-wave coffee movement, but La Fontaine de Belleville is the equal of the best cafes in London or Melbourne. The terrace is particularly pleasant on weekday mornings before the crowds arrive.
