Chez Omar has been serving Algerian-French food in the Marais since 1979, and the formula has barely changed: excellent couscous royale piled with merguez, lamb, chicken, and vegetables; a lively room of regulars and knowledgeable visitors; no reservations and a loyal queue that forms outside most evenings.
The decor is brasserie-retro and the service efficiently affectionate. Order the couscous; it is better than almost anywhere else in Paris.
