Founded in 1852, Le Bon Marché is the oldest department store in Paris and one of the most pleasant to spend time in — far less frenetic than the grands magasins on the Right Bank. The main building carries a serious edit of international fashion labels, perfume, and accessories, with a calm, well-organised floor plan and unhurried staff.
The real draw for many visitors is La Grande Épicerie next door: a vast, beautifully curated food hall with fresh produce, cheese, charcuterie, prepared dishes, wine, and baked goods from across France and beyond. Worth a visit even if you're not buying clothes.
Located in the 7th arrondissement, a short walk from Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
