Getting There

Borjomi is about 150 kilometres west of Tbilisi, roughly two to three hours by road depending on traffic through the capital. Marshrutka (shared minivan) services run from Tbilisi's Didube bus station directly to Borjomi throughout the day. Alternatively, you can take a train to Khashuri on the main line and then a connecting service to Borjomi. A taxi from Tbilisi is more expensive but more direct.

Borjomi is a natural stop on the way to Akhaltsikhe and the medieval cave city of Vardzia to the south, or to Bakuriani via the narrow-gauge railway. Many visitors combine it with one of those destinations on a two- or three-day loop from Tbilisi.
