Housed in the former Dominican monastery on Kriegsdamm, the museum has two big draws. The Roman section is built around the Orpheus mosaic and adjoining finds from Arae Flaviae, the Roman town that preceded Rottweil and once held a major garrison on the road from the Rhine to the Danube.
Upstairs, the Swabian Sculpture collection brings together late-medieval altarpieces, crucifixes, and statues from churches across the region, displayed in the cool whitewashed rooms of the old monastery. It is one of the best collections of its kind in Germany. Open Tuesday to Sunday; admission a few euros.
