Pulverturm

The Pulverturm, the powder tower, is a stout round tower on the eastern stretch of the old town wall, used as a magazine for the city's gunpowder for several centuries. It is one of the better-preserved bits of the medieval fortification ring; the wall is gone along much of its course but here a section survives along the Lorenzgasse.

The tower itself is not normally open to visitors but is photogenic and easily reached on a short walk from the Kapellenhof.
