Tübingen eats young, cheap and well. The old town is dense with Swabian taverns, student kebab shops, vegetarian places, and a handful of more serious restaurants. Swabian food — Spätzle, Maultaschen, Linsen mit Saiten (lentils with sausages) — is well represented; the town's beer gardens are at their best in summer.
