The old town is small and entirely walkable — you will see everywhere worth seeing on foot. The streets are steep, cobbled and largely closed to traffic. A bicycle is the universal Tübingen transport for getting between the old town and the university faculties on the hills to the north and east; bike hire is available from a couple of shops on Hechinger Straße and at the Hauptbahnhof.
Local buses run frequently to the outer districts and the university hospital on Schnarrenberg.
