The Stiftskirche, on a small square just above the Marktplatz, is the main church of the old town and the most important late-Gothic building in Tübingen. Built in the 15th century, the interior is light and unusually airy for the period, with a fine rood screen and a series of stained-glass windows above the choir.
In the choir lie eleven elaborately carved tombs of the dukes of Württemberg from the 15th to 17th centuries, accessible by a small admission ticket. The tower, the highest point in the old town, can be climbed in summer for unmatched views over the medieval roofscape down to the Neckar.
