The Marktplatz is the obvious centre of Waiblingen's old town: a long, gently sloping square paved in cobbles and lined with painted half-timbered houses, most rebuilt after the great fire of 1634 that destroyed much of the original medieval town. The Postplatz at one end and the old town hall halfway down provide the architectural anchors.
A weekly farmers' market sets up on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, with stalls of Swabian sausage, regional Trollinger and Lemberger wines from the surrounding Remstal vineyards, vegetables, and bread. Cafes spill onto the square in summer.
