A long row of half-timbered cottages standing directly in the water on the Regnitz River below the Lower Bridge, each with a small wooden balcony, a pitched roof, and a small jetty in front for the family boat. They were built in the Middle Ages as fishermen's housing — a working district, not a constructed beauty spot — and survive remarkably intact.
Best seen from the Markusbrücke on the west bank, or from a punt drifting down the river. The annual Fischerstechen (fishermen's jousting) in late August takes place here.
