Ordenskirche

Baroque Bayreuth church with ornate stucco and ties to courtly religious orders

Ordenskirche is one of Bayreuths smaller Baroque rewards, a church whose decoration reflects the courtly world that shaped the city before Wagner took over its image. Stucco, ceiling work, and ceremonial detail make the interior more interesting than the modest exterior suggests.

It is best folded into a walk through Bayreuths old centre and court architecture. You will not need long, but it adds another layer to a city too often reduced to the festival theatre alone.
