St Martin's Church

Brick-Gothic parish church with one of the tallest brick towers in the world.

St Martin's is the landmark you keep seeing before you quite arrive. Its brick tower rises about 130 metres over the old town, a needle of late Gothic ambition that makes the surrounding streets feel lower and older.

The church was begun in the late 14th century and took more than a century to complete. Step inside for the height of the nave, then walk back outside and look at how the tower lines up with the long Altstadt below. It is the simplest way to understand Landshut's medieval confidence.
