Lake Constance Cycle Path

The Bodensee-Radweg is a 273-kilometre cycle route that circles Lake Constance, passing through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Lindau sits on the eastern end of the lake and is a natural starting or finishing point. The route is well signposted, mostly flat, and runs through vineyard country, orchards, and lakeside villages — it is one of the more popular cycle routes in German-speaking Europe and has been drawing cycling tourists since the 1980s.

Day sections from Lindau are easy to plan: west toward Friedrichshafen takes you through pleasant Bavarian lakeside villages; east toward Bregenz is a short hop into Austria. Bikes can be hired in Lindau and ferries allow you to cross the lake and return by a different route. The tourist office has maps and stage suggestions.
