Lindau is well connected by rail from Munich (about 2.5 hours), Zürich (about 1.5 hours), and Bregenz (15 minutes). The island station — Lindau-Insel — sits right at the harbour and is one of the most attractively sited railway stations in Germany. Lindau-Reutin on the mainland is the intercity hub where most long-distance trains stop; a shuttle service connects it to the island. By car, Lindau sits at the junction of the A96 from Munich and routes from Switzerland and Austria.
