The Gaststätte Zum Gulden Stern claims to have been serving bratwurst since 1419 — if true, it is one of the oldest bratwurst kitchens in existence. The interior is suitably ancient: low beamed ceilings, scarred wooden tables, and the smell of smoked pork permeating everything. The sausages come twelve at a time on the traditional pewter plate, or you can order them in a small roll (three to a Weckle) as a quick lunch.
The atmosphere is genuine and the portions serious. No reservations, no frills. Zirkelschmiedsgasse 26.
