Passau Glass Museum

The world's largest collection of Bohemian glass, covering three centuries of Bavarian and Bohemian craft

The Glass Museum in Passau holds the world's largest collection of Bohemian and Bavarian glass — over 30,000 pieces displayed in the historic Hotel Wilder Mann in the heart of the old town. The collection spans the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries and covers every technique: engraved, painted, gilded, coloured, and cut glass from the workshops of the Bavarian Forest and Bohemia.

It is a specialist collection but not a dull one — the pieces are displayed in atmospheric room-sized showcases and the variety of form and colour is remarkable. The museum occupies multiple floors of the hotel; a combined ticket that includes the Princess Sissi apartments in the same building is available and worth taking.
