Getting Around

Peiting is a small town and its centre is easily walkable. The outlying attractions — the Lech riverside path, Kloster Polling, and the access tracks into the Lechtal nature reserve — are best reached by bicycle. Bike hire is available in Schongau; the flat and gently rolling terrain of the valley floor makes cycling accessible to most visitors.

The Lech Valley cycling route (Lechradweg) passes through Peiting on its course from Füssen in the south to Augsburg in the north. It is well-signposted and mostly follows quiet lanes or dedicated paths along the river. For day trips further afield — to the Wieskirche at Steingaden, the Hoher Peißenberg, or the Alpenvorland lakes — a car is the most practical option, as local public transport connections are limited.

There is no local bus service of much use to visitors. Taxis are available from Schongau.
